Thanks so much for your comments. Branding has become such a buzz-generating topic, yet it is also a nebulous one. In today’s economy, businesses tend to focus only on marketing strategies and tactics that are specifically intended to drive sales. This is understandable, but we need to remember that a company’s brand must remain the foundation of all marketing efforts - a strong brand will help a company rise above the changing market landscape, ensuring that when the dust settles, the company and its products will remain intact.

This was a very well thought out piece, except for the quote by Johnson of Toffler. He talks strategy per se, not brand….and has really no knowledge of the branding issue. Nor does Toffler Associates. Their business is about 90% federal government…not much branding issues there.
So, that quote shouldn’t even be in the article.
